As we begin Colossians 2:18, by the Holy Spirit Paul now moves to the Gnostic and Mystery Religions elements of the Lycus Valley / Colossian Heresy. As a result, by the grace of God in this podcast we look at some of the wording in the Greek text and give a few examples from some mystery religions the Christians of Phrygia were up against. By the grace of God we also bring out the meaning "voluntary humility" and worship of angels contained in that verse.

Colossians 2:16-17, Embrace Christ's Supremacy:
As we near the conclusion of Colossians 2 we come to the final death blow to the Lycus Valley, or Colossian, heresy which was a mixture of Judaism, Gnosticism, and some mystery religions. Verses 16 and 17 deal with Judaism. Also, by the grace of God, we bring out facts about our English word "judge" comparing in relation to the New Testament Greek words that may be translated as "judge." Yes, there is more than one word.

In the previous podcast we saw, from Colossians 2:13, the gracious forgiveness we receive when we make Christ our King and Savior. In verse 14 we clearly see that forgiveness was not enough due to the debt that we owe God, along with numerous penalties, but God also took care of that in the cross of Christ.
