Only victors in Christ receive Eternal Life and inherit the Kingdom of God. And though Christ has secured the victory for all those who truly trust in Him, the Word of God is very clear that we must participate — take action — in our walk in Christ.

Many who have read The Revelation are aware of the seven promises given to the seven churches of Asia Minor, each promise beginning with He that overcomes. As we continue in The Revelation we eventually read that Christ will return to earth with a heavenly entourage of victors that came to know and fully trust Him. This group of overcomers is described in Revelation 17:14 as called, chosen, and faithful.

Faithful. That word definitely indicates responsibility with Holy Spirit direction and empowerment for those that trust in Christ to live the life of Christ. Those before Christ could only look (sense, hear and read the Word, etc.) forward to when Christ would come and establish full salvation for all that would receive Him. However, as we read the Old Testament we see there were a number who did trust in God. Consider those listed in God's Hall Of Faith (Hebrews 11) who persevered and stand as witnesses in regard to the spiritual race of today's disciples of Christ. As witnesses they attest to the fact that they were faithful even though Christ had not yet come, nor was the complete Word of God available to them in written form.

We should take it to heart that they are witnesses in regard to our spiritual race, and we ought study the Old Testament to receive insight as to how we are to live in spiritual victory over our sin nature, over sin, against temptation, against the spiritual climate of the world, keeping in mind that they were victorious before Christ was born.

The Psalms occur right in the middle of the Holy Bible, and some say that Psalm 119 is the actual center. I do not believe that is mere coincidence. I feel that the Holy Spirit so designed it that way.

In these days of what I and many others feel are the last days of the last days of The Time Of The Gentiles, in Psalm 119 I see directives and principles of spiritual victory for those who put their trust in God through Christ. For this series of lessons, after an overview of Psalm 119 we will have at least two lessons for each stanza to learn the vectors of victory in the light of the victorious life of Christ being applied in the life of each disciple of Christ.
