Good old George loved fishing. You could say it was in his blood -- that, and golfing.
After having worked decades as a TV repairman, George retired, and if he was not sick, he was often golfing or fishing.
In the 1980's I was pastoring in Flintstone, Maryland, where George had lived and would often go with him on fishing expeditions. I was not only fishing for fish, but I was fishing for George, that he might come to Christ and find Him as his Savior. After all, one thing that everyone has in their blood is the desire to sin, and Christ came to save sinners.
No matter how good and moral we think we are, every last one of us are sinners, and the children that we help bring into the world are like us -- sinners.
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. (Romans 5:14)
After Adam sinned, he was defiled, becoming totally depraved, and the condition was passed on to successive generations. Now, one might think that God could have wiped out Adam and started new, but He did not, because we were all in Adam and God loved each one of us.
So Christ, the "last man", or as the Christmas carol states, "second Adam from above," came to live a victorious life free from sin, then became our sin and pay our penalty on the cross with a bloody death. Romans continues (v.15), "But not as the offense, so also is the free gift. For if through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many."
The Word of God gives us the option of trusting in Christ to cause us to repent and fully commit to Him. In so doing, we are washed in His all-atoning blood, freeing us from our sin nature and liberating us to do the right thing by letting Christ live through us.
However, if we do not commit to Christ, then hell awaits for we have rejected the only sacrifice acceptable to God for our sins.
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (Romans 5:9)
What a relief to be rescued from sin and eternal damnation! However, we must honestly decide to earnestly commit to Him.
After George heard and saw the Gospel in real Christians, he committed to Christ at the prompting of his daughter. He still had fishing and golfing in his blood, but he also had the blood of Christ in him.
George went to be with Christ in the 1990's and lives today in eternity. You can have that assurance today too if you fully trust in Christ.

"O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colors and lay thy foundations with sapphires. And I will make thy windows of agates and thy gates of rubies, and all thy borders of pleasant stones. And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD, and great shall be the peace of thy children." --- Isaiah 54:11-13
