There are times that one just feels this is a cruel world we live in. Pressures from work, family, friends, enemies, things we own, sometimes crowd our lives with darkness, making it feel like we are traveling through a seemingly unending tunnel.

To add to all this, there is satan, either tempting us or shoving our spiritual face into our failures and shortcomings.

Is there no mercy? There sure is -- in God of course.

"Mercy" and its forms are used over 300 times in the Holy Bible and is one of the moral attributes of God. We can be blessed by His mercies if we come before God in the proper manner.

By the Holy Spirit, David wrote in Psalm 9:13, "Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:" Satan and his demons indeed hate us and would like to see us destroyed forever in spiritual death. So he turns up our emotions when the pressures of life poor in and encourages us to give up on God when God has not given up on us. He encourages us to blame of God, when all the time we are by nature sinners and rightfully deserve the wrath of God.

Yet, God in His vast mercy made the way to reconciliation and peace with Him through Jesus Christ.

Every one of us deserves hell, but thanks be to God that Jesus has paid our penalty and offers us His victorious life. This is the foundational part of His mercies.

By completely dedicating ourselves to Christ we can have our sin resolved, and receive the grace that we need to sustain and guide us during our course of life on earth.

God, in Christ, has supplied all that we need to avoid hell and enjoy spiritual enrichment.

This, indeed, is abundant mercy, and is ours if we truly and fully commit to the Savior, Jesus Christ.
