I was just thinking today of how wonderful it is to hear a grandchild call me "grandpa." When I was a child and a teen-ager, "grandpa" sounded old, but now it sounds great. It's even better when I get to hold one of my grandchildren -- it makes me feel young.
Then, as I began to compose a series of these Bible GemLights, I had to stop and think about an old man named Simeon.
It is recorded in the Gospel of Luke that God told Him that he would not die until he saw the Lord's Christ.
Then, one day as Simeon was faithfully at the Temple, Joseph and Mary were there with their 8 day old child, Jesus. Simeon takes Him into his arms and says, "Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation," (Luke 2:29-30).
In his arms was the salvation of the world, the very One Who could rectify anyone with the Father. In his arms was the forgiveness of sins, and Eternal Life. Simeon also knew that Messiah would literally rule the earth. I wonder how Simeon felt as he held Jesus. Simeon now felt that he could die in peace. After all, he had beheld the Prince of Peace.
Whether we look in our own country or around the world, peace in our time seems so far away. This is because we are far away from God. Yet, each individual does not have to be far away from God.
The Word of God tells us to fully trust Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. In so doing, though we may have trouble in this world, we will have an everlasting peace. We will have beheld God's salvation, and lovingly hold Him within our heart. Make the Prince of Peace your King and Savior today. Ask the Christ to forgive you of your sin and cleanse you. Then invite Him to live within you.

"O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colors and lay thy foundations with sapphires. And I will make thy windows of agates and thy gates of rubies, and all thy borders of pleasant stones. And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD, and great shall be the peace of thy children." --- Isaiah 54:11-13
