Every last one of us should be thankful to God. I realize there will be some who read this who might say, "What do I have to be thankful for? All I have is trouble, hardship."
The first thought that would come to my mind as a reply would be, "It could be worse," but then there are some who are convinced that things cannot get worse. Thinking such as that is encouraged by satan who desires to destroy each individual. If he cannot manage someone to commit suicide, then he often tries to drag them into deep depression. Don't let him do that, and make up your mind you will not dwell upon sad thoughts too long. Find something to thank God for.
I recall my years spent in Bible institute very fondly. Aye, I saw some bad things, but I saw many good things and people. One was a young man named Steve Roser.
Quiet time was set by the school administration for a half hour each weekday evening. That time was to be used to seek God, or be quiet if you wanted to do something else.
One evening, Steve took a towel to kneel on and flashlight, and left the men's dormitory at quiet time.
He returned about 2 or 3 hours later full of strength and joy. He said he felt as if he had to press through to God. He found a private place to worship and began to pray. As the he prayed, the Holy Spirit nudged him to thank God for whatever came to his mind.
And so he did for two to three hours. He told us thanked God for all that he had -- books, clothing, a job, good health, a bed, food -- even the towel he was kneeling on.
Truly he had followed Ephesians 5:20, which says, "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;" Above all, we should thank God for providing complete salvation for us through Jesus Christ. I sincerely hope that you have made a commitment to Jesus Christ.

"O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colors and lay thy foundations with sapphires. And I will make thy windows of agates and thy gates of rubies, and all thy borders of pleasant stones. And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD, and great shall be the peace of thy children." --- Isaiah 54:11-13
