When this GemLight was written we were approaching the time of the year that I find hard to describe--Halloween. While I personally think the event is one that needs to be done away with, others consider it to be harmless fun. Regardless of what end of the spectrum a person is in on this matter, the one good thing it might do for some people is to help them remember that most people will face physical death. So, hopefully it will bestir some to think they should prepare for that time.
From what I see, most people feel there is some type of existence after physical death, and many will say reward or punishment awaits those who depart from this life.
The Holy Bible indicates the greatest reward one can have is Eternal Life. Those who do not inherit that still live on forever after physical death, but the Word of God refers to that as the second death and eternal condemnation.
One day the Sadducees, who did not believe in the resurrection, tried to baffle Christ with a question. Christ said in response (Mark 12:26-27), "And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living..." This with the fact Christ spoke of the "rich man and Lazarus," that Elijah and Moses appeared with Christ on the Mountain of Transfiguration, and other passages indicate that those who depart from this life continue to live on, especially those who have made Christ their King.
Of course it is not just those in the Holy Bible who trusted Christ, but all who have done so throughout time. That means people like Martin Luther, William Tyndale, George Mueller. It includes our friends and relatives who have truly committed to Christ. All these are actually still alive and are with Christ. As Revelation points out, their works also continue. When you think of it, most of us who trust Christ are partly "spiritually descended" from Paul, Martin Luther and others, some who are well known, and from some whom we have never heard of, and will not know of, until we too stand before the Christ.
It means a lot to be ready to die. To have one's sins completely forgiven and one's life redeemed by Christ and completely devoted Him is the most precious treasure. If the Lord tarries and you die after committing to Christ, though you physically die, you really just move on to glory.
If you are not ready, by all means fully trust Christ today.

"O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colors and lay thy foundations with sapphires. And I will make thy windows of agates and thy gates of rubies, and all thy borders of pleasant stones. And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD, and great shall be the peace of thy children." --- Isaiah 54:11-13
