Ever feel like you are being "kicked around" by people or situations you just cannot seem to control? Many feel like simply giving up when this occurs, and some contemplate suicide.
Abraham and Sarah had a servant named Hagar. As the childless couple grew older, Sarah gave Abraham permission to father a child through Hagar. However, God gave Abraham and Sarah their own child some years later, and they named him Isaac.
A feast was given on the day Isaac was weaned, but Hagar's son Ishmael did something that greatly displeased Sarah. Sarah then demanded that both Hagar and Ishmael to leave.
After wandering in the wilderness for a time, their water was consumed, and Hagar surmised they would soon face death. She cast her child under a shrub and walked away so she would not see him die. God, hearing the voice of the child, instructed an angel to encourage Hagar, letting her know that Ishmael would "become a great nation.
Then, "God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink."-- Genesis 21:19.
God knows the world can be a very cruel place at times. If you read the beginning of Genesis and other portions of the Bible it was not God's intent that mankind should live in such misery. But because sin entered the world through Adam evil has been unleashed and will continue to grow until Christ returns.
However, no one has to wait until Christ returns to get some relief. He desires each person to open their eyes and see the well of living water He has provided for us in Jesus Christ Who desires to live in us. All your problems will NOT go away if you turn to Christ, but as you let Him live through you, He will become that refreshing strength you need. Call upon Him today, asking Him to cleanse you from sin and dwell within you.

"O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colors and lay thy foundations with sapphires. And I will make thy windows of agates and thy gates of rubies, and all thy borders of pleasant stones. And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD, and great shall be the peace of thy children." --- Isaiah 54:11-13
